Uncured Ham

The other day I commented on people arguing over how to make the best sweet tea. Those arguments are nothing compared to what people have to say about uncured ham, believe me.

It seems pretty simple to me. Take your uncured ham and pour Coca Cola over it so that it's drenched in a dutch oven or whatever you use to cook your ham in an oven, cover it tightly, and stick it in the oven at 350 degrees 'til you think it's done. That could take 4-8 hours, and most folks will use a liner in the pan or dutch oven.

But there are people who use Sprite and a can of pineapple juice with chunks and roast the ham in an oven or in a crock pot.

And there are people who don't like Coke or Sprite and use brown sugar and pineapple slices and pineapple juice---lots of it.

Some people make incisions with a sharp knife and run cloves or garlic deep in before they cook their ham no matter what method they use.

I'm not taking sides on this one.

It would just be great if this was all we had to argue over as we gather around a table to show our thanks and gratitude.

It's a good thing that shepherd's pie hasn't come up yet. I'm sure that some folks will argue over whether or not a good shepherd's pie needs a shepherd in it or not.
