You're going to need a large skillet, pot, or crockpot and
* Three large onions thinly sliced
* One-half-cup of butter or margarine
* 2 Tbsp. of instant beef or chicken bouillon or 6 or 8 bouillon cubes
* At least 4 cups of hot water
* At least 1 tsp. of Worcestershire sauce
* Some salt or Vegeta
* At least 4 slices of French or Italian bread toasted (or garlic bread)
* At least one-quarter-cup of grated Parmesan cheese
Cook your onions 'til they're lightly browned. Put the onions, the butter, the bouillon, the water, the Worcestershire sauce and the salt or Vegeta in the pot. Cover that and let it slow cook for about 4 hours or longer. Keep an eye on it, stir it, and add more water if needed. Adjust seasonings and ingredients to taste. Sprinkle with cheese and put the bread on top before you serve it. Some people slice the bread in quarters or cut the bread in big pieces and then in cubes.
