Escritura: Juan 15:1-11
Yo soy la vid verdadera
1 Yo soy la vid verdadera, y mi padre es el labrador. 2 todo pámpano que en mí no lleva fruto, lo quitará; y todo aquel que lleva fruto, lo limpiará, para que lleve más fruto. 3 ya vosotros estáis limpios por la palabra que os he hablado. 4 permaneced en mí, y yo en vosotros. Como el pámpano no puede llevar fruto por sí mismo, si no permanece en la vid, así tampoco vosotros, si no permanecéis en mí. 5 yo soy la vid, vosotros los pámpanos; el que permanece en mí, y yo en él, este lleva mucho fruto; porque separados de mí nada podéis hacer. 6 el que en mí no permanece, será echado fuera como pámpano, y se secará; y los recogen, y los echan en el fuego, y arden. 7 si permanecéis en mí, y mis palabras permanecen en vosotros, pedid todo lo que queréis, y os será hecho. 8 en esto es glorificado mi padre, en que llevéis mucho fruto, y seáis así mis discípulos. 9 como el padre me ha amado, así también yo os he amado; permaneced en mi amor. 10 si guardareis mis mandamientos, permaneceréis en mi amor; así como yo he guardado los mandamientos de mi padre, y permanezco en su amor. 11 estas cosas os he hablado, para que mi gozo esté en vosotros, y vuestro gozo sea cumplido.
Meditación
Encontramos en la biblia el uso de símiles (comparación indirecta-como) y metáforas (comparación directa-yo soy). Dios las usa para llevar a su pueblo enseñanzas de como es el reino de Dios y como es el. Utiliza ejemplos conocidos para el pueblo en esas comparaciones para dar la enseñanza. El alfarero, el carpintero, en este caso usa la agricultura- el cultivo de uvas. Siempre que se siembra una semilla se hace con la esperanza de que crezca y produzca su fruto. Pero hay un cuidado que darle para que se logre la cosecha y que sea buena.
Jesús para darnos enseñanzas de como es el y el reino de Dios pronuncia los siete “yo soy”.
En juan 10:11-14 yo soy el buen pastor; juan 11:25 yo soy la resurrección y la vida; juan 6:35-48 yo soy el pan de vida; juan 8:12; 9:5 yo soy la luz del mundo; juan 10: 7 yo soy la puerta; juan 14:25 yo soy el camino la verdad y la vida. Y en la lectura que hemos escogido para la meditación de hoy: juan 15:1-5 yo soy la vid verdadera. La vid es una planta de uva, es una enredadera. Tiene raíz, tronco, ramas, sarmientos-pámpano, hojas y frutos. Jesús se compara con esa planta “él es” y mi padre es el labrador, es el dueño y encargado. Él es quien cuida, limpia, quien poda. El uso de la agricultura para explicar el reino de dios, y su cuidado.
Nos habla de podar: ¿Qué es? Y ¿Porque es necesario? Es limpiar, cortar, arrancar, sacar hojas secas, ramas secas. La poda es una muestra de amor, Dios se preocupa por nosotros. Se preocupa de que estemos bien cuidados, quita lo que no es necesario, quita lo que no es productivo, lo que no nos es útil. Cuando más cerca esta Dios de nosotros, es cuando nos está podando. Cuando un viñador va a podar siempre tiene la rama en su mano. Dios no te ha soltado siempre has estado en el hueco de la mano de Dios. La poda no es la ausencia de Dios, al contrario, es cuando más cerca que nunca. Juan 15:2 todo aquel que lleva fruto, lo limpiará, para que lleve más fruto.
Ser cortado: Juan 15:2 todo pámpano que en mí no lleva fruto, lo quitará; el pámpano o sarmiento es un brote nuevo, un retoño. El peligro de no estar apegado a Cristo es que ese brote nuevo se secara. En otras palabras, el peligro de no congregarse, de no estar en una iglesia, nos puede secar, no nos permite crecer, madurar y dar el fruto que se espera de nosotros. El Señor nos da un consejo un mandamiento o recomendación en Juan 15:4 “permaneced en mí, y yo en vosotros”. Como el pámpano no puede llevar fruto por sí mismo, si no permanece en la vid, así tampoco vosotros, si no permanecéis en mí. De que nos está hablando de una relación, una amistad y compañerismo. Juan 15:5 “yo soy la vid, vosotros los pámpanos”, nos está dando identidad. También nos está dando una promesa Juan 15: 5b “el que permanece en mí, y yo en él, este lleva mucho fruto”. Nos está diciendo que lo necesitamos para poder salir adelante, Juan 15:5c “porque separados de mí nada podéis hacer”.
Para la reflexión
La poda es la evidencia de algo nuevo en nuestras vidas. Por lo regular cuando algo sale mal o nos llega momentos de prueba nos desesperamos. Tendemos a preocuparnos de sobremanera y tratar de resolver. La poda en tu vida tiene como plan que lleves fruto como nos dice: Gálatas 5:22 “más el fruto del espíritu es amor, gozo, paz, paciencia, benignidad, bondad, fe,23 mansedumbre, templanza”; 2 Timoteo 1:7 “porque no nos ha dado Dios espíritu de cobardía, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio”. Así que no te apartes de la vid y permite que todo lo que el labrador desee hacer en tu vida lo haga, porque el resultado será de bendición.
Oración
Bendito Dios gracias por revelarte a nuestras vidas con ejemplos de nuestro diario vivir y con ellos ayudarnos a entender tus planes y propósitos en nuestras vidas. Ayúdanos a mantenernos apegados a ti y continúa trabajando en nuestra vida, quita lo que tengas que quitar, añade lo que tengas que añadir para que podamos seguir unidos a ti y llevar mucho fruto. En el nombre de Jesús te lo pedimos. Amen.

Trimmed or chopped
Scripture: John 15:1-11, CEB
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vineyard keeper. He removes any of my branches that don’t produce fruit, and he trims any branch that produces fruit so that it will produce even more fruit. You are already trimmed because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. A branch can’t produce fruit by itself, but must remain in the vine. Likewise, you can’t produce fruit unless you remain in me.I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, then you will produce much fruit. Without me, you can’t do anything. If you don’t remain in me, you will be like a branch that is thrown out and dries up. Those branches are gathered up, thrown into a fire, and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified when you produce much fruit and in this way prove that you are my disciples.
“As the Father loved me, I too have loved you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy will be in you and your joy will be complete.
Meditation
In the Bible we find the use of similes (indirect comparison) and metaphors (direct comparison). God uses them to bring to His people the teachings of what the kingdom of God is like and what He is like. He uses well-known examples to teach the people in these comparisons. The potter, the carpenter, in this case he uses agriculture-the growing of grapes. Whenever a seed is sown it is done in the hope that it will grow and produce its fruit. But there is a care to be taken so that the harvest is properly reaped.
Jesus teaches us what He and the kingdom of God are like by pronouncing the seven "I am's."
In John 10:11-14 I am the good shepherd; John 11:25 I am the resurrection and the life; John 6:35-48 I am the bread of life; John 8:12; 9:5 I am the light of the world; John 10:7 I am the door; John 14:25 I am the way, the truth, and the life. And in the reading, we have chosen for today's meditation: John 15:1-5 I am the true vine. The vine is a grape plant, it is a vine. It has a root, a trunk, branches, shoots, leaves and fruit. Jesus compares himself to that plant "He is" and my father is the vineyard keeper, He is the owner and caretaker. He is the one who takes care, who cleans, who prunes. The use of agriculture to explain the kingdom of God, and its care.
He talks about trimming: What is it and why is it necessary? It is to clean, to cut, to pull up, to remove dry leaves, dry branches. Pruning is a sign of love, God is concerned about us. He takes care of us, He removes what is not necessary, He removes what is not productive, what is not useful to us. When God is closest to us, it is when He is trimming us. When a vinedresser goes to prune, He always has the branch in his hand. God has not let you go, you have always been in the hollow of God's hand. Pruning is not the absence of God, on the contrary, it is when He is closer than ever. John 15:2 he trims any branch that produces fruit so that it will produce even more fruit.
To be cut off: John 15:2 He removes any of my branches that don’t produce fruit; the branch is a new shoot. The danger of not being attached to Christ is that this new shoot will dry up. In other words, the danger of not congregating, of not being in a church, can dry us up, it does not allow us to grow, mature and bear the fruit that is expected of us. The Lord gives us a piece of advice, a commandment or recommendation in John 15:4 "remain in me, and I will remain in you". A branch can’t produce fruit by itself, but must remain in the vine. Likewise, you can’t produce fruit unless you remain in me. He is speaking of a relationship, a friendship and fellowship. John 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches" is giving us identity. He is also giving us a promise John 15: 5b "he who abides in me, and I in him, he bears much fruit". He is telling us that we need him in order to go forward, John 15:5c "for apart from me you can do nothing".
For reflection
Trimming is the evidence of something new in our lives. Usually when something goes wrong or we are in a time of trial we get desperate. We tend to worry too much and try to solve. The pruning in your life has as a goal that you bear fruit as it says: Galatians 5:22 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control."; 2 Timothy 1:7 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and self-control". So do not stray from the vine and allow whatever the vineyard keeper desires to do in your life to be done, for the result will be a blessing.
Prayer
Blessed God, thank You for revealing Yourself to our lives with examples from our daily lives and with them help us to understand Your plans and purposes in our lives. Help us to stay attached to You and continue to work in our lives, take away what You need to take away, add what You need to add so that we may remain united to You and bear much fruit. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
